Malcolm Totten
Malcolm retired in April
2007 after 38 years with Monaghan Veterinary Laboratory/Agrihealth Limited.
During this time he was involved in the development of that company
at all levels having originally been employed in 1969 as salesman in
a three-person start-up team.
As the business expanded
he assumed many roles being appointed sales manager in 1973 and general
manager/director in 1977. Over the years he was involved in all facets
of the business including hands-on experience in sales and marketing,
buying, costing, pricing, transportation, computerisation, property
dealings, finance and the preparation of management accounts. In addition
he took the lead in the acquisition of two rival companies, the exercise
of due diligence and the subsequent reorganization of assets and staff.
During the thirty-eight
years spent with the company it developed into one of the largest and
most efficient distributors of veterinary medicine on this island. It
is also a market leader in the veterinary equipment business both here
and in the UK. The technical services division employs four veterinary
surgeons backed up by technical lab staff in an INAB approved, state
of the art, laboratory facility.
Malcolm was retained by
Agrihealth as a consultant during the period 2007 - 2009 and continues
to be available to them on request.
